Strategy & Netball Australia

Navigating the future for Netball in Australia

Netball is one of the most popular participation sports in Australia with a footprint that engages and enriches communities across the country. To support the sport’s long-term growth, Netball Australia sought to develop greater consistency in the governance and operating structures of Netball’s administrative organisations across the country. Greater consistency would then act as a platform for a new and more coherent national governance and operations framework and associated action plan.

    Extensive review and stakeholder engagement

Kinetica was engaged to lead the process of reviewing the current governance and operating structures and processes across the sport encompassing the national body, state and territory Member Organisations (MOs), affiliated Associations and Clubs. This process included direct engagement with stakeholders across the ecosystem to elicit feedback and build consensus across the sport’s stakeholders on key challenges and appropriate solutions to underpin future reform. The outputs of this engagement fed into comprehensive findings of a formal review that provided recommendations on optimal future governance and operating structures and the opportunities for change that would foster greater consistency and collaboration across the Netball ecosystem.

A clear and evidenced roadmap for best practice and consistency

With a refreshed governance and operating framework now clearly defined, Netball Australia could leverage a narrative for change to improve strategy and actions across the leadership entities in Australian netball.  The intelligence we provided from the Netball community underpinned strategies and a roadmap for success that Netball Australia continues to roll out with its various stakeholders, setting up the foundations for step-change in the sport’s continued growth.
